In the morning, your expert guide will pick you up from your hotel to embark on a journey to the Pichi Leufú River, a distinctive feature of the Patagonian steppe. Due to its unique morphology, fishing here is exclusively done by wading. Situated 60 km from Bariloche, this river is set amidst a semi-desert landscape and stunning mountains. It's an ideal spot for wading, perfect for both novices and seasoned anglers.
The river is home to rainbow trout, brown trout, and Patagonian perch.
Upon reaching the Pichi Leufú River's boarding point, your guide will introduce you to two fishing techniques available for this excursion:
- Fly Fishing: This technique involves casting flies—essentially "dressed" hooks that mimic insects, small fish, or shrimp—using a weighted line specifically designed for this purpose. This method demands practice and precision, yet it's gaining popularity worldwide.
- Spinning: This method involves casting and retrieving artificial lures, such as spoons, to mimic the movement of a small organism in the water, enticing the trout to strike if deceived effectively.
Following this introduction, your excursion will commence as you navigate the Pichi Leufú River, employing your chosen fishing technique.
After two hours of fishing from the boat, you will reach the riverbank to savor a delightful lunch amidst nature. After a relaxing break, you'll continue floating and fishing in the afternoon at the prime spots that the Pichi Leufú River offers.
Throughout the day, your guide will share insights into the history of the San Carlos de Bariloche region and the area's finest fishing locations and fish species.
After a 12 km journey, your guide will lead you to the river's exit point, where vehicles will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel.
